Since he was a 14-year-old growing up in South Dakota, reading the likes of Jack O'Connor in Outdoor Life magazine, Myron Maddox has wanted to go on a real African safari. Now 72, Maddox got his chance. Last month, he spent eight days in South Africa with Bushman Safaris on a crossbow adventure. On a managed hunt to keep populations in check, Maddox shot six impala, a blesbok, a wildebeest and two warthogs.
"It was a trip of a lifetime," said Maddox. "By far the best hunt I've ever had."
